Thank you for all your support, guys. All of the comments mean a lot to me. Right now I feel like I just conquered Mount Doom.
And if you’re interested in more about the story, check out the Adjunct section listed above.
Oh… and The End.
OMG CHIEF
Awesome ending, having read the novel I knew it would lead to this :3
its fred not chief lol
LOL I haven’t read the novel for 3 years, but didn’t chief return to Castle Base as well? I thought he hitches a ride back to reach after boarding a covenant ship or something?
Classy!
So, Jun’s fate is still pretty much ambigious – and that’s just they way I think fans would like it to be.
Awesome!
That was actually a very satisfying ending… much like some of the Spartan-IIs who died on Reach, Jun’s death now feels impending, with a tinge of ambiguity. A very good touch, and a great way to conclude his troubled mind in tandem with his mission.
I think it’s safe to say that the Halo community thanks you. This was an unbelievable triumph, and we -all- thank you for it.
Awesome work on this epic comic, what a ride!
I really enjoyed reading your comic. It was all I hoped it would be: awesome.
Awesome ending! Now the not-Jun-in-First-Strike issue has been solved.
Wow… Just wow. This is definitely canon-worthy.
Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
You’re welcome, thank you for reading it!
its fred if you’ve read first strike.
Awesome. Fantastic. Amazing work.
Thank you so much.
How do I donate? I would buy this if I could. I feel like a thief reading it for free.

His email is leviathan@bungie.org
Loved it all the way, sad to see it end, but you deserve a break.
You’ve depicted the story just the way it was meant to be, hope to see more of your work in the future. Thanks for your hardwork and the last thing I can assure you, is that I had a great time reading this comic, and reading the updates as they came out.
Thank you ,glad to hear it.
Thank Leviathan. Show him the love:

All that waiting? For this? WELL WORTH IT
Hah, good. Goood.
damn good work, Levi. You’ve inspired me to make multiple books anf graphic novels, none of which have ever been fully created. I also like that mabe I shouldnt be feeling do mad about Jun alerting the enemy, and ruining my chances of a LASO
I wish this Jun was in the games, he is badass.
AWESOME comic! You should draw a picture of Jun actually baking a cake
Indeed, I should!
You should have have cooking utensils/equipment where his ammo should be on his armour.
Jun bakes his cakes, but does not eat them…
Lol, reference to Jun killing the enemy but not hating them.
Loving the thanks to Urk and BS Angel, those to will probably be big supporters of making this thing canon even though Urk is with Bungie. Bungie still needs some say in the canon since they originally made the game.
WOW!!
Thank you so much Levi, love this comic and Jun’s backstory. Really hope to see this in book or hell even animated like the shorts on waypoint. I hope you have success in all your work, from one fan-writer to another.
Hell you deserve to do an official piece by 343, so that they can thank you for your hard work.
Hey Leviathin. Thanks for the great comic. If this is ever made canon or even printed, let me know so I can get a copy. ^_^
Thanks, will do!
You comic was amazing from start to finish. Honestly, simply calling it a comic is an insult.
It is much, much more than that. Great story combined with great artwork, and your effort and quality was mindblowing and consistent throughout. You not only offered us quite a close-up on jun’s past (and personality), you also presented the fate of jun that I don’t think 343 or bungie could have done much better.
The wait for the end couldn’t have been any longer, but it was well worth it.
I can go on and on, but I’ll just give it a rating:
15/10.
I’m pretty sure everyone expected this to be top notch, but the end product was blown to the stars.
Wow, thank you!
Think of a MAC gun firing, that’s the equivalent to what Leviathan did here!
Hah, I like that analogy.
I can do better, think of one million Mac guns, two million super Mac guns, three Death stars, the whole friggin covenant Armada exploding, and three thousand super novas, that is what Leviathan did here.
So…all of Noble Team did die on Reach. So sad…:( But in the end, they did succeed in one mission:
They delivered hope.
The whole point behind Reach was that it was a loss, and a much darker personal story. Yet from the ashes was hope and the fact is without Team Noble, Master-chief wouldn’t have been able to stop Halo, the Covenant or the Flood.
Hell, I expect that if it wasn’t for Jun, the other spartans wouldn’t have saved Halsey from Castle.
AHH!!! Tingles all up and down my spine! What a fantastic story!
Great job! Loved the whole thing, thanks so much for making it.
Awesome! Thanks.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! Part of me still is, waiting for what happens next. The only thing that part of me can express here is MOAR!! MOAR!! MOAR!!!! You sir have a gift. Thank you for the action packed and suspenseful few months you’ve given us. The waiting was well worth it!
Glad to hear it – thanks!
You spelled Hegemony wrong…
I know that guy… he does sprites.
Actually I spelled it correctly. We are apparently talking about two different people. This is who I was speaking of: http://dontshakethelightbulb.blogspot.com/
Oh sorry Lev.
Absolutely amazing. I’ve been following this story from the start (although this is my first comment), and I just love the way you’ve constructed this story so creatively while still keeping true to the Halo canon. This outstrips ALL of the official Halo comics by far, and also is much more canonically believable too…
If you’re not too busy, could you in the future consider doing a comic adaptation of one of the Halo novels, like First Strike? I’m sure everybody here would agree that if you did something like that, it would be INCREDIBLE.
Congratulations on finishing your comic, it’s been an incredible ride for us.
Thank you for the kind words.
I started making an adaptation for Ghosts of Onyx a number of years ago with a friend, and I have to say, it was rather hard keeping enthusiastic about it. The problem is, the book already tells the story wonderfully, and to do it justice, my comic would have to seriously be longer than the book itself. If I abridged it, it would just feel like a recap. And then there’s the whole issue of the visuals living up to people’s imaginations…
If you look at the Fall of Reach comic adaptation that’s coming out, they obviously have talented people working on it, but I feel that it runs into the issues mentioned above. 4 issues to cover YEARS of Spartan training and unique characters? It’s literally impossible to be fulfilling.
What I have considered doing is a sort of ‘storybook for adults’ a simple glimpse at the entirety of the Halo timeline, with illustrations showing important highlights…
Hot damn……Amazing end to an amazing comic. You, sir, are unbelievably talented. Here’s to hoping 343 makes this canon.
This whole comic makes us say this: MOAR MOAR COMICZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
so if thats fred then next to his nee u could see kelly
I bet he dies. Question is levi how many enemies does he take with him? Can it be at least 150 covenant?
It’s exactly 151.5.
Well done, a very enjoyable read. AL not withstanding lol
I hope in the future you can add more to the Haloverse.
I can compile this into a .cbr file if you want, then you can put it up on other sites.
No thank you, I’m happy where it is.
Why don’t you make any Gears of War comic? I know they already exist, and I’ve red some of them (they’re amazing under the point of view of the narration, see Harper’s Story, but poor under the point of view of graphics and ideas) but you, Leviathan, you could make a true piece of art!
I agree. You Levi, could make it truly fantastic. I can already see one POV of the story being Stranded and how they view COG and grubs. Art style could be something similar to your Halo meets graffiti style for blood/gore.
Hope your next work is smooth sailing for you.
It’s an interesting idea, but I personally never got into the Gears of War universe very much. I played through the first game’s campaign when it first came out, but haven’t followed it since then.
Well, you could see campaign videos from Youtube! If there’s something that in the GoW universe is untold but interesting, it surely is Carmine family story. Else the story of Locust Queen Myrrah is unknown (why is she a human?). There are many topics you could work on. It would be very popular.
Oh, I forgot to say this is just epic winz, and should be 100% canon.
WOW, just WOW…lost of words, too awesome…
what ya doing next and where might be able to see it
I’m currently working on a comic called Anubis, written by Sage Howerton.
Here is the Facebook page concerning it: http://www.facebook.com/Anubis.Comic
Epic. ‘nough said.
Again, thanks for the wonderful story. You truly are an artist and a master of Sci-fi. Hope all your works go well for you.
Have you considered doing a Doctor Who graphic novel? I could easily see you pull that off with humour, action, aliens and time-travel paradoxes all together in a single story.
I actually have considered doing something Doctor Who related. When I get some free time, I plan on doing some stand alone DW pieces for fun (and will likely upload them to my DeviantArt).
Now a whole graphic novel? I don’t know. I’d rather get in contact with the IDW publisher and do some official ones.
Leviathan…
As a complete stranger, somebody you’ve only IM’ed with on a few occasions, congratulations on your masterpiece from ME must mean very little. (Don’t argue! Yeah, criticism helps, ya-da-ya-da) But FoA was amazing. It expanded on the characters in every way I wanted them to be, making me care in a way that the game didn’t. It deserves canon. I’m not saying that as a butt-hurt fanboy. I don’t care what they say, this IS canon. Those here will agree with me that the time I’ve spent, hibernating in my room admiring your artwork, was time well spent. Thank you for a good time, Leviathan, and I will be lurking here still, giving congratulations and praise for the coming works that will earn it.
~Coda
This is was such a great comic. You’re a wonderful writer and artist. The ending and many other moments brought tears to my eyes. Congrats, and expect a new watcher on your Deviantart page
Wow, thanks, I’m glad it had such an effect on you.
Thank you for making this incredibly awesome comic of my favourite Reach character, the badass Jun.
(one little note for Halo 4) I like to think that the Master Chief was trapped in a shield world or something)
It was my pleasure.
Best Halo comic I’ve read.If this isn’t canon,I could no longer love Mirosoft as the creator of the world’s most amazing game series(besides mario).
The ending was fantastic, having Jun quelled his troubled mind, leaving the answer to the question,”What happened to Jun?” still somewhat partially a mystery, and setting it up fo the halo novel First Strike(I think?).
I have to ask though…are you gonna release this comic in an actually book format or just a file with all the pages included?
Glad you liked i!
On the main Leviathan.Bungie.Org page, there are links to PDF versions (as well as a flip-book format).
But being a fan-created project, I can’t legally sell and distribute this as a physical comic (regretfully!). There was an exception for an Child’s Play charity auction recently, but that’s not really an easily accessible thing for you guys.
I’d love to sit down and read this as a real book, but I’m afraid that will require Microsoft’s 343 Industries to be persuaded into thinking it would be profitable to do so.
This comic is truly amazing. I approve, and I WILL buy it if printed. You deserve it!
Nooooooo you had to do the same as bungie! He still hasn’t died properly! Its unconfirmed!
Its still the most epic thing I’ve read…. Ever!
Leviathan, freakishly talented people such as yourself are both the bane and joy of my life. Joy is for obvious reasons, but being a bane is because you set an unbelievably high bar for others to look up to, which makes me not want to attempt anything like this, because it will never get close to the level of polish and grandeur you have displayed in your abilities to create a believable, engrossing story, and back it up with sublime artwork.
I only just rediscovered this again recently, and am now kicking myself for not keeping up with your work sooner. Thank you so much for rounding out Juns’ story in a satisfactory way, my mind is now at ease. You are a genius.
/ingratiating comments
If it’s any consolation, I too am flabbergasted by other artist’s amazing talents, and just like you describe, their work can be a joy but intimidating at the same time. Even as I’ve gotten better over the years, there’s always someone else better, it’s just something you have to accept, I suppose. You have to figure out how to be happy with your own work and style. If that means you have to improve, then you have to. But sometimes it’s just about realizing how cool your own style is.
You speak the truth. While, one day, I’d love to be able to indulge myself and undertake something such as this, it won’t be any time soon. Life gets in the way, as you likely know, and I find I have less and less time to myself. I wish I could be able to take time off from everything and finish the many things I’ve started, but haven’t been able to finish for one reason or another, but it won’t be in the immediate future. Until then, I can look to your works for inspiration, and try to keep the flame kindled.
Thanks for the kind words, here’s looking forward to future endeavors.
Will you be making anything like this in the near future?
I will be making plenty of Halo-related artwork in the near future, but a full graphic-novel will be some time. I’ve got some ideas, but I don’t have the time at the moment.
Unless I can convince 343i to pay my rent while I make it.
I think Jun dies because in the fall of reach epilogue chapter it says someone of high importance, a female(guessing Halsey) protector demon(spartan) gave it’s life for hers.
Actually that article is in reference to events taking place on the planet Miridem sometime earlier than this, after which Halsey was captured. She was then rescued in The Package, a Halo Legends short.
http://www.halopedian.com/Miridem
Leviathan, your story and artwork took me on a spiritual experience. I read through this in an hour and savored every single panel.
This is not only FAR better than the noir terminal tale of ODST, it is both emotionally and mentally beneficial to it’s readers.
Words actually fail me as I search my mind for the most effective way to convey my adoration for this project. I suppose, to do it best, I will paraphrase Harlan Ellison:
“Love. Let me tell you how much I’ve come to love you since I began reading your fiction. There are 343 million words of text in all other Halo fan fictions combined. If the word ‘love’ replaced each letter of each word in every other fan-made Halo production, it would not equal one one-billionth of the love that I feel for you and A Fistful Of Arrows at this micro-instant. Love. Love.”
I’m glad it had such an affect, and thank you for the comment; it means a lot. I hope I can find the time to do another project like this in the near future.
This is superb – feels extremely authentic and lore-accurate… really authentic and satisfying, farmiliar and original at the same time! Just brilliant. Any plans for a co tinuation on Jun’s story? (I should warn you there is only one acceptable response to this question…and it rhymes with “yes”.)
Well that’s at least three Grim-Approvals, so I don’t see how I could ever live up to that kind of expectation with a sequel.
I still visit this site, and I recommend this comic to every Halo fan I know, I am a hard core fan, I’ve read all the books, I know a fair bit about Halo, and I consider this to be cannon. It does justice to Noble team and their personalities, I think it’s a shame that they were never officially expanded upon, but thanks to you I now know more of their story.
Thank you for your continued support, I really appreciate it! And I’m glad that I captured Noble well enough to add more to your Reach experience.
Damn… Now I REALLY want to make a graphic novel… Too bad I can’t draw shit on my laptop… Well i can draw a piece of shit, but it ends up looking like a planet… Maybe I could write a script for one, then have someone make a novel for that… Damn i have got to lay off the ellipsis… DAMMIT!!! WAIT!!! YEAH I DID IT!!! WAIT!!! AW SHIT NOW I’M ON SHOUTING!!!
:’(
Wow. This was awesome. Your such a good artist!
But is this story fan made or is the ending part actually true. I just started wondering because Halsey is still shown in the beginning of Halo 4. I’ve never read any of the books/comics or anything that tells more than the games.
Has it ever been explained what actually happened to Jun?
EDIT:
Yes I don’t understand why did I ask is this fan made. Sorry
